turn crankshaft to cyl. 1 tdc (arrow) (engine with automatic transmission shown). turn crankshaft damper to cyl. 1 tdc (arrows). remove camshaft drive belt guard – upper section install 10-222a support with legs 10-222a/1 as shown. remove overflow reservoir for coolant (hoses remain connected). remove reservoir for power steering fluid (hoses remain connected). remove bolts (arrows) and engine mount. remove vibration damper/belt pulley. remove camshaft drive belt guard center and lower sections. remove bolts for engine bracket from cylinder block (arrows). note: to loosen front screw from bracket, raise engine slightly using the support. mark direction of rotation on belt. release belt tension and take off belt. installing note: if piston is at tdc; the valves could strike the piston while turning the camshaft. a – camshaft drive belt completely removed if camshaft drive belt only has been removed from camshaft.

remove noise isolation of the Pan in the engine compartment. 2. remove the air channel tube between the turbocharger and charge air cooler. see Figure 1. 1. raise and support vehicle. remove front, lower engine cover. lower vehicle. separate release lever from hood lock. remove front bumper cover. see fig. 1 . remove bumper carrier from impact damper. 2. unbolt air duct between lock carrier and air cleaner on lock carrier. remove support bolt on passenger side of lock carrier and insert one lock carrier guide (3369) into hole. see fig. 2 . 3. remove lock carrier front support bolts. remove lock carrier-to-side panel bolts. insert lock carrier guide (3369) into hole on driver’s side of vehicle. slide lock carrier forward on lock carrier guides. 4. on vehicles with a/c, mark direction of rotation on belt, and remove a/c drive belt. on all vehicles, rotate accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise to remove tension from belt.

1. remove accessory drive belts. see fig. 2 or fig. 3 . remove accessory drive belt tensioner bracket. see fig. 4 . 2. remove crankshaft pulley bolts and pulley (it is not necessary to remove center bolt). 3. remove water pump pulley. remove upper and lower timing belt covers. caution: to prevent valves from contacting piston, do not rotate camshaft or crankshaft with timing belt removed. valve damage may result. 4. if reusing timing belt, mark belt with arrow to indicate original direction of rotation. 5. place crankshaft at tdc by aligning flywheel (m/t) or drive plate (a/t) tdc marks. see fig. 5 . ensure camshaft timing mark is aligned with mark on belt guard. see fig. 6 . loosen belt tensioner. remove timing belt. installation (standard tensioner – up to 1997) note: 1. ensure crankshaft is still at tdc position. see fig. 5 . remove distributor cap. rotate intermediate shaft counterclockwise until rotor is pointed at

Tools required :- Vehicle ramp or jack and axle stands, T20 torx driver, T30 torx driver, pozidrive screwdriver, 7mm hose driver, Sharp craft knife. Safety eyewear, footwear, gloves and protective clothing are also recommended.

COMPRESSOR CLUTCH CONTROL
Evaporator Temperature Switch Although compressor clutch does not normally cycle on and off, an evaporator temperature switch turns off the compressor clutch if evaporator temperature decreases to 32øF (0øC). This prevents evaporator icing.

- Lubricate the pivot of the servo motor shaft and linkage – arrows A – and – B – by hand.

2. Lubricate linkage: Turbocharger (TC) 2 Servo-Motor V281 -left engine side-
Installed location: Front left, between the steering and housing of front final drive, above the coolant hoses – arrow A – .
- Lubricate the pivot of the servo motor shaft and linkage – arrows A – and – B – by hand.

Work procedure:
The battery disconnect relay is located in the footwell, in front of the driver seat. The battery disconnect relay is fastened to the ground connection for the battery negative terminal, in front of the driver seat.
