1999-2006 Volkswagen A4 Heating And Ventilation Unit Removing And Installing
1 – heater core replacing: remove heating and ventilation unit press retainer clips and pull heater core out of assembly. when installing, note installation position of heater core bulkhead seal always replace coolant after removal/replacement 2 – self tapping screw use if retainer clips break 3 – air distribution housing 4 – fresh/recirculating air door motor v154 removing and installing 5 – self tapping screw 6 – fresh air blower v2 removing and installing 7 – cover 8 – self tapping screw 9 – fresh air blower series resistor with fuse n24 removing and installing: remove fresh air blower 10 – sheet metal screw 11 – central flap lever adjusting 12 – temperature flap lever 13 – base plate 14 – heater core/bulkhead seal note installation position heating and ventilation unit, removing and installing caution! before beginning repairs switch off all electrical consumers. switch off ignition and remove key from ignition switch.
removing caution! the cooling system is pressurized when the engine is warm. wear gloves and other protection and carefully release system pressure if necessary, before performing repairs. drain engine coolant. refer to applicable engine mechanical repair manual, repair group 19. remove and clamp off coolant hoses to heater core in engine compartment at bulkhead. plug heater core inlet and outlet to prevent accidental spilling of coolant in interior. remove instrument panel loosen instrument panel cross member disconnect all related electrical connections and control cables. remove nuts – 1 – from bulkhead side (3.7 nm). carefully pull heating and ventilation unit away from bulkhead into vehicle interior. installing install in reverse order of removal, noting the following: note: heater core bulkhead seal, installation position always replace
engine coolant.
