1999 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas suspension description

The XJR and XJ8 uses an independent coil spring-type rear suspension. Outer bearing carrier and hub Assembly is supported by control arm underneath, and uses axis axis as top support. Suspension coil spring/shock absorber is controlled by 2 assemblies. Fulcrum shafts connect chassis control weapons and hub carrier used. See fig. 1. & wheel alignment ADJUSTMENTS inspection specifications & PROCEDURES Note: HUB bearing PRELOAD Hub bearing preload is controlled by shim adjustment between Hub component and hub outer poll. Shims are available in various thicknesses. 1 check it out. Increase and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly. Clamp dial indicator mount to hub carrier. External indicator pointer contacts hub flange. 2. using 2 Levers between the hub and the hub carrier, press passive hub. Note read on external indicator. The difference between external indicator readings is preload of lower hub. See & for adaptation, HUB carrier under disposal installation. REAR SUSPENSION HEIGHT 1. Ensure vehicle has full fuel tank, all liquids were awarded and tire pressure correct. Roll vehicle about 30 meters on a flat surface. Measure the distance between differential support plate on both sides and soil. See fig. 2. 2. Height measurement for coupé and cabriolet. If height is not within specification, check all buses and replace if necessary. If buses are okay, replace rear springs. & See PROCEDURES in article wheel alignment specifications.Download
