Some customers may comment on a clunk, bump or squawk noise when the vehicle comes to a stop or when accelerating from a complete stop. Cause A slip/stick condition between the transfer case output shaft and the driveshaft slip yoke may cause this condition. General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some of the 2002-2003, model year, Cadillac Deville and Seville cars equipped with V8 (4.6 l) engine (L37/LD8), Oldsmobile Aurora V8 engined vehicles (4.0 l) engine (L47) and Pontiac Bonneville SSEi vehicles. Fuel tank pressure sensors in these vehicles is unusually sensitive to malfunction. If the sensor fails, excessive vacuum can be applied to the fuel tank during the self-test. Fuel system components can be damaged and fuel can leak from a vehicle, where it refueled. Possible symptoms of this disease are the smell of fuel from the fuel tank area, inaccurate fuel gauge readings and poor controllability. If there is an ignition source, can cause a fire.

Some of the above vehicles may exhibit an engine knock noise that begins in the first 19,000-24,000 km (12,000-15,000 mi) of use. The knock noise is most often noticed during initial start- up and typically disappears within the first 5-30 seconds (may last longer in extreme cold temperatures). The noise is usually more noticeable on the initial start-up when the temperature is below 10°C (50°F) and may be more pronounced on the first cold start following a long trip. 1. The filter is located behind the glove compartment. Unscrew the 2 screws at the bottom of the glove box cover to loosen the it. Remove glove box and set it aside.
2. Cut the plastic cover along the dotted lines shown and remove it. Dispose off plastic cover, it is no longer needed. This exposes the metal cross bar under it. Locate and remove 2 additional bolts securing bar. Remove and set it aside.
3. The filter access door is now accessible. Pull on the top and bottom tabs to release door. Remove door and set it aside.

3. Grab onto handle and slide out old filter. Replace with new TYC filter, ensuring that Air Flow arrow is pointing to the driver’s side.
4. Reinstall in reverse order.

Removal
1. Relieve the fuel pressure in the system by loosening the banjo bolt on the top of the fuel filter. Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail. It is a good idea to replace the washers. Disconnect the fuel harness holder and unbolt. Disconnect the hoses from the fuel pressure regulator (FPR).
2. Disconnect intake hose/pipe from throttle body. Disconnect all hoses leading to the throttle body and intake manifold. Disconnect throttle cable bracket on manifold and throttle cable from throttle body. Disconnect the cables to the the throttle position sensor (TPS) and the map sensor on the throttle body.

What is the SmartMAP??
The SmartMAP? model SS-300 replaces the check valve and restrictor assembly used by most Honda/Acura turbo and supercharger kits and prevents the engine computer (ECU) from shutting down the engine when the manifold pressure is above atmospheric (boost).

How does the SmartMAP? work?
The SmartMAP? connects inline with the stock (OEM) manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and limits the MAP voltage that is applied to the ECU. The limit (clamp) voltage value is preset and can not be adjusted.
